| Hi again, Im the whinger everyone was talking about. I was simply trying to answer the repoters question in the first instance. The moral of the story was poor understanding and communication in the first instance that led things to escalate to the point of going AWOL. I was an immature 20 year old that had not had any real life problems to deal with before, with a view to it now, I was stupid to react the way I did, but at the time I wasnt as clear headed as I am now and was in desperate need of some guidance which wasnt readily available and if I did ask for guidance it was seen as being a whinger or not being able to hack it. 99.9% of my time in the army I excelled and have had the privalage of serving my country on several occasions, I even answered a call up notice and served under my Kings Own Royal Border Regiment capbage again in Iraq recently, hacking the army wasnt the problem, hacking real life combined with the army was, and chosing one over the other was no compatition. Would anyone choose the army over his new born? If thats the case then Id say that you cant "hack it". |

Well done son. If only there were more guys like you willing to tell the system what it was like for them and their families.
I'm not one for advocating a nambi pambi approach to soldiering but making an effort to see things as they really are is not all that difficult and seeing things from someone elses perspective often makes mediocre leaders great.
Let's hear more anecdotal evidence of why soldiers leave and what might make them join and stay.
Regards
